Usher’s real name is Usher Raymond IV. He was born on 14 October 1978, to Usher Raymond III and Jonetta Patton in Dallas, Texas, United States. His father left the family when he was a year old, then he was raised by his stepfather and his mother.
At a very young age, his father recognized his singing talent, when he was 9 years old he joined the local church choir in Chattanooga. His family moved to Atlanta, Georgia believing that a bigger city would provide him with great opportunities. Usher attended North Springs High School.
At the age of 10, he joined the local R & B quintet called NuBeginning.
At the age of 13, A.J. Alexander introduced him to Bryant Reid, founder of Laface Records. Later, he was signed to LaFace Records. In 1993, he released Call Me a Mack, for a movie, Poetic Justice. While he was preparing for his debut album he got hit by puberty and his voice changed.
On 30 August 1994, he released the self-titled album Usher. The album peaked at 25 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. To date, the album has sold over 500,000 copies.
After completing his graduation, he was working hard to improve his skill set. In 1997, he released his second album My Way.
