Early Life

Tony Robbin’s real name is Anthony J. Mahavorick. He was born on February 29, 1960, in North Hollywood, California. His parents divorced when he was 7 years old.  He changed his name to Robbins after his mother remarried a semi-professional baseball player named Jim Robbins. He grew up in a tumultuous household and faced several challenges in his childhood, including an abusive stepfather and financial difficulties. He attended Glendora High School. During high school, a pituitary tumor caused Anthony to grow ten inches quickly. As a result, today he stands at 6 feet 7 inches and still has a deep voice. However, he was determined to succeed and began reading self-help books at a young age, which would later inspire him to pursue a career in motivational speaking. He soon got a job promoting Rohn’s seminars.

Career

In 1980, he partnered with John Grinder and founded Neuro-Linguistic Programming. They both launched their own seminars teaching NLP and self-help. Tony Robbins began his career in the 1980s as a motivational speaker, hosting seminars and workshops across the country. He quickly gained popularity and became known for his energetic and dynamic speaking style, as well as his focus on practical solutions to personal and professional challenges. He co-authored several books including Unlimited Power, Awaken the Giant Within, Giant Steps, Money: Master the Game, Unshakeable: Your Financial Freedom Playbook, Life Force: How New Breakthroughs in Precision Medicine Can Transform the Quality of Your Life & Those You Love.

Tony Robbins has been married twice and has four children. In 1984, Robbins married Rebecca Jenkins, the couple has three children: one adopted and two from her former marriage. The couple separated in 1988. In 2001, he married Bonnie Sage.
