The game quickly became a hit in the Soviet Union and was eventually distributed internationally, becoming one of the most popular video games ever. In 1996, Pajitnov and Henk Rogers founded The Tetris Company.
Pajitnov continued to work in the gaming industry, designing and developing several other games, including “Welltris,” “Harris,” and “Faces… Tris III.” He also worked as a software engineer for several companies, including Microsoft. In 2005, he worked with WildSnake Software to release a new line of puzzle games.
