Early Life

He was born on 16 December 1981, in Cleveland. His father ran a sweet and chocolate store, R & J Confectionery. Paul attended Benedictine High School. He grew up in a one-bedroom apartment, and gun violence and drugs were common in his neighborhood. At a very young age, he started selling rare sports jerseys. His father died of cancer in 1999. 

Career

While selling jerseys at the airport, he met LeBron James at the Akron–Canton Airport, he was impressed with the Rich Paul collection. Paul sold a Magic Johnson Lakers jersey and a Joe Namath Rams jersey to LeBron James. LeBron James also paid Rich Paul $50,000 a year to act as his personal assistant. During this time Paul learned a lot about the sports agency world. In 2003, he became a good friend of LeBron James, Randy Mims, and Maverick Carter. 

In 2012, he founded his own sports agency, Klutch Sports Group. LeBron James left Leon Rose’s agency and joined Paul’s sports agency. By 2019, Klutch had a roster of 25 clients including Anthony Davis, Ben Simmons, Eric Bledsoe, Tristan Thompson, Jordan Clarkson, and Draymond Green, and brokered over $1 billion in contracts. In 2019, United Talent Agency invested in Klutch Sports Group. In 2020, he became a member of the board of directors of the United Talent Agency. Rich Paul earns $30 million in commissions each year and in 2020, he became the third most successful sports agent in the NBA. He also expanded his agent business to NFL. 

In 2020, Paul launched Klutch Conversations.
