Early Life
Jesse Itzler is also known as Jesse James. He was born on 22 August 1968, in Roslyn, New York, to Daniel Itzler and Elise Itzler. His father Daniel was an inventor and his mother was the president of the Roslyn Board of Education. In 1990, he completed his bachelor’s in Justice, Law, and Society from American University.
Career
At the beginning of his career, Delicious Vinyl records signed him as a songwriter/artist. His first debut album was Thirty Footer in Your Face. The album had several songs including College Girls (Are Easy) which became the club anthem and Shake It Like A White Girl was featured in the film White Chicks and reached 74 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1991. In 1992, he sang the theme song Go NY Go for the NBA basketball team New York Knickerbockers. He also wrote and sang the theme song I Love This Game for the NBA.
In 1996, he co-founded Alphabet City Sports Records along with the CEO of Wheels Up, Kenny Dichter.
In 2001, Jesse Itzler co-founded one of the largest private jet card companies in the world, Marquis Jet. Itzler served as vice chairman until the company was acquired by NetJets, in 2009. In 2009, he founded a brand incubator and accelerator company called 100-mile group. The company partnered with some of the big brands including ZICO coconut water and Coca-Cola company. In 2012, ZICO was acquired by Coca-Cola and in 2021, the company was sold back to its founder, Mark Rampolla, through PowerPlant Ventures.
In 2015, he released his first book Living with a SEAL: 31 Days Training with the Toughest Man on the Planet. At the time of its release, the book ranked first on the LA Times book list and was a New York Times Best Seller. His second book was Living with the Monks: What Turning Off My Phone Taught Me about Happiness, Gratitude, and Focus, in 2018.
In 2015, Itzler and his wife along with Grant Hill, Rick Schnall, and Steven Price purchased the Atlanta Hawks for $850 million.
