Early Life and Career

Mr.Beast’s real name is Jimmy Donaldson. He was born on 7 May 1998, to Stephen Donaldson and his mother’s name is not known. He was born in Wichita, Kansas, United States. Jimmy attended East Carolina University and graduated from Greenville Christian Academy in 2016. 

At the age of 12, he started posting videos on YouTube under the username of MrBeast6000. On his first YouTube channel, he posted gaming content, estimating how much money YouTubers make, and tips for upcoming video creators. He dropped out of college to pursue YouTube as a full-time career. His mother opposed his decision to drop out and made him move out of the family home.

In 2015-16, Jimmy began to gain popularity on YouTube when he posted “worst intros on YouTube”, during that time he had around 30,000 subscribers on his channel. He convinced his childhood friends Tyson, Garrett Ronalds, Jake Franklin, and Chandler Hallow- to work with him to make content more engaging for the viewers. 

In 2017, Jimmy published a video of himself counting to 100,000. It took him almost 44 hours to count 100,000, and some parts of the video were sped up to keep it under 24 hours. The video went viral and was viewed more than 21 million times.

In 2018 during PewDiePie vs T-Series, Jimmy purchased billboards and radio advertisements to help PewDiePie get more subscribers than T-Series. 

He is one of the greatest philanthropists on YouTube. Some of his videos include Mr. Beast giving $1000 to strangers, and Last To Take Hands off $ 1 Million Keeps It. By 2018, Jimmy had given out $1 million through his outlandish stunts. 

Jimmy spends just as much money as he makes every month producing content. In 2021, Mr.Beast made a guest appearance on the Clubhouse app, causing it to crash.

In November 2021, he recreated a web series, Squid Game, in real life. 456 people compete for a $456,000 cash prize, without violence in the show. The video was viewed more than 248 million times on YouTube, making it Mr.Beast’s most-viewed YouTube video and most-viewed YouTube video of 2021.

In 2019, Mr.Beast and former NASA engineer Mark Rober launched a fundraising challenge on his channel, the event called TeamTrees. The goal was to raise $20 million for the Arbor Day Foundation within 3 months. The project raised $23 million and has planted more than 7 million trees. The project will remove approximately 1.6 million tons of carbon from the atmosphere and 116 million tons of chemical air pollution. 

In 2020, Mr.Beast and MSCHF launched a one-time multiplayer mobile game, Finger On The App, the last person to take a finger off the screen will win $25,000. The last four people ended up winning $20,000. The game was so successful that a sequel the game was launched and this time the prize money was $100,000. 

In 2020, Mr. Beast launched a virtual restaurant called Mr.BeastBurger. In 2022, Mr. Beast launched a new food company called Feastables. 

Mr.Beast is an investor in Backbone, Juice Funds, and Current. 

Mr.Beast second-biggest source of income after YouTube is his merchandise sale. He offers a wide range of t-shirts, hoodies, water bottles, and caps.

Jimmy is in a relationship with Maddy Spidell. Once he booked an entire theater to watch Maddy’s favorite film, Frozen 2.
